So that’s what dead tired means

Last night I went to bed about twenty minutes after Rob. Normally, he would still be awake, but last night I could tell by the sound of his breathing that he was deeply asleep. The winery tires him out during harvest because it’s all hard physical labor and extremely long hours.

He was sprawled across the bed, arms outstretched. I nudged him to get him to move. No response. I picked his arm up and moved it without the rhythm of his breathing changing. In fact, if it weren’t for the fact that he was snoring lightly I might have been worried. Poor guy.

He had today off, so we were able to spend some time together while both awake. Given how harvest generally runs, this is a novel experience.

In Portland, at Bone Manor

It’s too late and complicated to explain why my hosts’ home has that moniker.

Meanwhile, the workshop is over. It was good to see old friends and make new ones. I’m exhausted and it will take awhile for me to finish processing the weekend. At the moment, I am headed for slumber.

Brain closure

We had our first two Peter and the Wolf performances today. I was going to write a lovely post about the differences between a school crowd and a family crowd but I think my brain just shut down.

Two tech weeks, again?

Hoooooow? How did I manage to schedule tech week for two shows during the same week again? It’s 2:30 am and I feel like I’m going to bed early. That’s a bad sign.

How old do you feel?

At rehearsal the other day, someone said that the way you feel after an all-nighter is the way you will feel all the time twenty years from now.

I feel eighty.

Today: the cliff notes

Layout Shimmer
Lunch with Tempest: Mmm. Best risotto in the world
More layout Shimmer
Dinner with Dean: Watched Taxi Driver for the first time. I know. Should have seen it earlier, but didn’t. Good film.

Wow. First time someone’s cooked a meal at their home for me since arriving and then two meals in one day. Somehow, it feels like I am not a tourist any more.
