Home safely and have voted

My flight landed an hour later than scheduled, but it got me here, so that’s what counts. I came home, dropped my bags, sponged off because I was rank, changed clothes and then Rob and I went to vote.

This is the first time in twenty years that I’ve voted in person for a presidential election.  In Oregon, it’s all vote by mail and before that I was on tour, using absentee ballots.  The lines were shorter than I expected, but I’ve been told that they were out the door this morning.  Lots of people were there waiting when the station opened, apparently.  It’s exciting to see this many people involved.

Have you voted yet?

I voted this morning and expected long lines but I was in and out in 10 min or less. It took longer to fill in the oval with the supplied ball point pen than if they had felt tip pins.

That was sort of the way it was for us. This was the last year NY used the mechanical voting machines and I really wanted to use one.

I was the polling station’s first voter.

I voted this morning. It only took 15 minutes, or so.

Hope you slept some on the flight. I’m not a good plane sleeper myself.

Thanks for the calls to NC, Mary. They’re still counting here, but I am cautiously optimistic.

I have my fingers crossed. I grew up there and so it would please me if it went for Obama.
